Introducing Wa 8, an original brand born from the collaboration between Sumikawa Sake Brewery, a distinguished Japanese sake producer founded in 1921 and cherished globally, and with Wa Creations, a culinary group that operates Japanese restaurants specializing in Edomae sushi, Kappo, and Teppanyaki both in Japan and overseas.
The brand features two distinct varieties: Wa 8 GOLD and Wa 8 SILVER. These sakes are designed to be incredibly versatile food pairings, expertly leveraging Sumikawa Sake Brewery's unique qualities. They complement a wide array of dishes, from seasonal fare and sushi to various meat preparations, making them a favorite among food enthusiasts around the world.
Thoughts behind the label design
This original sake is crafted exclusively for Wa Creations' restaurants. In developing the label design, we aimed to distill the essence of Japan into a form that is simple yet deeply infused with the subtle delicacy and profound philosophy of Wa Creations. The label features a unique blend of the "mouth" (口) radical from the Japanese character "Wa" (和) and the number "8." This "8" not only signifies good fortune and prosperity (末広がり) but also precisely represents the rice polishing ratios: 28% for Wa 8 GOLD and 38% for Wa 8 SILVER. By designing the "Wa 8" logo to elegantly float within golden and silver water droplets, our intention was to create a refined experience. This design allows the sake to harmonize beautifully with the surrounding dishes and tableware, encouraging international guests to confidently and delightedly order authentic, high-quality Japanese sake.
